Canadian Home Sales and Listings Record Decline in April

According to information released by the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) Canadian home sales and national home listings fell 56.8% in April, when compared to the previous month. Year-over-year activity (not seasonally adjusted) fell 57.6%. The number of new listing – prospective new sales opportunities declined 57.5% from March to April. The actual (not seasonally adjusted) national average sale fell 1.3% year-over-year. Home sales recorded over Canadian MLS® Systems dropped by a record 56.8% in April 2020 compared to an already weakened March, with many sellers and buyers having seemingly moved off to the sidelines during the COVID-19 lockdown.
