U.S. Homeownership Rate Hits Highest Level Since 2012

According to the recent U.S. Census Bureau Housing Vacancy Survey (HVS), Americans view homeownership as something of great value. And the COVID-19 pandemic, and the need for many Americans to shelter in place, has helped that feeling to grow even stronger. As a result, during the first quarter of 2020 the homeownership rate increased to 65.3%. and is now the highest rate in the past eight years. Homeownership remains part of the American Dream and in the first quarter of 2020, more people took advantage of lower mortgage interest rates to achieve that dream.
