For the first time in its history, the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has issued a national emergency declaration to provide hours-of-service regulatory relief to commercial vehicle drivers transporting emergency relief in response to the nationwide coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. While this declaration doesn’t cover all things moving via trucks, it does cover anything that provides direct assistance supporting the emergency relief efforts.
