Canadian Pacific Railway Employees, Represented by Teamsters Canada Rail Conference, Take Strike Vote

If logistics problems aren’t already causing enough headaches and supply chain disruptions, word came this morning (2-10-22) that the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC), representing members working for the Canadian Pacific Railway (CP), is in the process of conducting a strike vote among its more than 3,000 Locomotive Engineers, Conductors, Trainpersons and Yardperson’s. The main issues include wages, benefits, and pensions. The strike vote results will be tabulated in late February.

The TCRC has also served a Notice of Dispute to the Minister of Labor under the Canada Labor Code in accordance with the Canada Labor Code regarding its dispute with CP Rail. The main issues include wages, benefits, and pensions.

The Minister of Labor has appointed a conciliator/mediator to support the process. Representatives from the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference and CP Rail are currently meeting with the conciliator.

A legal work stoppage can only take place 21 days after the conciliation process is complete.
