US Delays Tariff Increases on Upholstered Furniture, Cabinets, and Vanities
On December 31, 2025, President Donald Trump signed a proclamation to delay planned tariff increases on upholstered furniture, kitchen cabinets, and vanities by one year, until January 1, 2027.
The delay applies to tariff increases that were scheduled to take effect on January 1 under a September 29, 2025, proclamation. As a result, the existing 25% tariff on certain upholstered furniture, kitchen cabinets, and vanities—imposed under a September 25, 2025, proclamation—will remain in effect.
The White House said the US continues to engage in negotiations with trade partners to address trade reciprocity and national security concerns related to imports of wood products. The administration said the delay is intended to allow additional time for those discussions.
