Domtar to Temporarily Reopen Outardes Sawmill in Baie-Comeau, QC, in April

Domtar will temporarily reopen its Outardes sawmill in Baie-Comeau, Quebec, allowing 126 workers to return to work beginning April 20 to clear inventory, Radio-Canada reported (3-6-26).

The mill has been closed since January 13.

Domtar said forestry operations will remain on hold despite the temporary reopening and noted that market conditions remain difficult.

“Market conditions in the lumber sector remain very challenging,” the company said, adding that it continues to call for “significant changes to the regulatory framework” to improve competitiveness.
