LP Building Solutions Announces First Production of LP SmartSide at Its Sagola, Michigan, Facility

LP Building Solutions recently announced (4-13-23) that the first production of LP SmartSide products at its Sagola, Michigan, facility was produced on March 15th, followed by the production the first APA-approved SmartSide board on April 7th.

LP’s Sagola facility opened in 1988 as an OSB mill. In 2021, LP announced a phased, multi-year plant to expand its siding production to meet increased demand for SmartSide products. At that time, LP Sagola was among two facilities, including LP’s Houlton, Maine mill, announced for conversion from the manufacturing of OSB to SmartSide siding.

At full capacity, LP Sagola will be able to produce approximately 330 million square feet of SmartSide siding annually, bringing the company’s total siding production capacity to approximately 2.4 billion square feet.
