Huber Engineered Woods Announces Plan to Build New OSB Facility in Noxubee County, Mississippi
Huber Engineered Woods LLC (HEW), a subsidiary of J.M. Huber Corporation, announced on Wednesday (6-7-23) that it plans to build a new oriented strand board (OSB) facility in the town of Shuqualak, Noxubee County, Mississippi.
According to the press release, the plant will increase HEW’s production of innovative ZIP System® and Advan Tech® structural panels. The manufacturing facility is projected to provide over 150 direct new jobs to Noxubee County and the surrounding areas, while providing a sustainable solution to utilize smaller diameter timber in the region—benefiting landowners, businesses, and residents.
The new Shuqualak facility will produce HEW’s premium panel products used in the construction of homes and multifamily projects roofs, walls, and subfloor assemblies. The mill will be located on approximately 550 acres and will feature the most advanced processes and technologies available for manufacturing operations. HEW says the new facility will be designed to minimize its environmental footprint, maximize energy and water efficiency, and optimize the utilization and yield of raw material inputs.
The new Shuqualak location will be HEW’s sixth mill in the US. The new mill will expand HEW’s current production footprint, which is comprised of five facilities located in Georgia, Maine, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Virginia.
Initiation of project construction is pending various federal, state, and local permits as well as economic development incentive approvals and/or processes.
