Hood Industries Announces Plans to Build a New Plywood Mill in Beaumont, Mississippi

Hood Industries announced Thursday (5-4-23) that it plans to build a new, laminated plywood panel manufacturing facility in Beaumont, Mississippi. Hood previously operated a plywood manufacturing facility in Beaumont, with a history that can be traced back 40 years when the facility was purchased and became Hood’s first wood products manufacturing facility.

On April 17, 2022, a tornado significantly damaged the Hood Beaumont plywood facility, and the mill was deemed inoperable. After months of considering all the possible options, Hood Industries has made the final decision to reinvest in Beaumont where it all began for the company. The new Beaumont mills will be able to operate at a rate twice the capacity of the previous facility and at efficiency levels that support the long-term feasibility of a project of this magnitude.

In a press release, Warren Hood, Owner & CEO of Hood Companies, said, “We are excited to be able to rebuild the facility into one of the most modern plywood plants in North America.”

The new facility will employ up to 265 team members and is expected to be operational by early 2025.
