Hankins Lumber Company Expanding in Northern Mississippi with $ 12 Million Sawmill Investment

According to a news release on Tuesday (5-11-21) provided by Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves, Hankins Lumber Company of Grenada County Mississippi is investing more than $12 million into a sawmill that will be called Hankins Timbers. Hankins already employs about 140 people, and the expansion will add an additional 43 good paying jobs. The Mississippi Development Authority is providing aid for equipment installation. The Delta Regional Authority and Grenada County also assisted with the project. Hankins Timbers will use first and second pine thinning rather than mature logs. The facility will produce about 40 million board feet per year.
