Conifex Timber Inc. Announces Reduced Operations at Its Mackenzie, BC, Sawmill
Citing “acute transportation challenges,” Conifex Timber Inc. announced on Monday (8-22-22) that it was reducing its operating schedule at its Mackenzie, British Columbia, sawmill facility.
Starting on Monday, August 29, 2022, Conifex will reduce the operating schedule at the Mackenzie facility to a one-shift basis. The company says the reduced operating schedule is planned for up to six weeks.
“It is anticipated that the reduced operating schedule will impact production capacity by approximately 26 million board feet,” Conifex says.
In a statement about the planned reduction in production at Mackenzie, Ken Shields, Conifex chairman and chief executive, said, “We have experienced persistent rail transportation challenges that have impacted our operations. These challenges have forced us to align our shift configuration with those in place at other interior BC operations to manage unsustainable inventory levels.”
