Energeticcity.ca reported on Monday (12-4-23) that Canfor has said it will pause operations at all of its lumber mills in British Columbia and Alberta for three non-statutory days during the holiday week between Christmas and New Year’s Day due to the ongoing weak market conditions and the lack of available fiber.
In addition, three of Canfor’s manufacturing facilities, including the one located in Fort St. John, will be taking an additional week of downtime in advance of Christmas.
According to Energeticcity.ca, Canfor said wood product sales are linked heavily to residential construction, and it is currently a seasonally slow period for lumber demand.
