Canfor Announces Q3 Curtailments at their Canadian Sawmills

Citing significant supply chain challenges and transportation backlogs in Western Canada, the result of extreme wildfire conditions, Canfor Corporation announced on Tuesday (7-20-21) afternoon that it will be curtailing approximately 115 million board feet of production capacity at its Canadian sawmills during Q3.

In making the announcement, Stephen Mackie, Executive Vice President, North American Operations at Canfor, said, “We are implementing short-term production curtailments at our Canadian sawmills beginning July 26. We are developing site specific plans to minimize the impacts to our employees and contractors.” The company also said that “Canfor is working closely with the provincial wildfire services and governments to support a safe response to the very dynamic wildfire conditions in Western Canada.”
