Sweden’s Holmen Reduces Production at Its Bråviken Sawmill
Holmen gives notice of 40 positions at Braviken sawmill (translated)
Holmen is giving notice to around 40 employees at Braviken sawmill outside Norrköping, Sweden, Skogsindustrin reported (5-9-25). This amounts to nearly a third of the workforce.
The cutback is a result of challenging market conditions and difficulties in securing a profitable supply of raw materials. Production will be reduced by an estimated 90,000 m3.
In a statement to Skogsindustrin, Johan Padel, Business Area Manager for Holmen Wood Products, said (translated):
“We must adapt to challenging external factors in order to secure the business in the long term. It is, among other things, the surge following the new US administration’s tariffs and access to timber from the local area at a competitive cost that affects us negatively. To match demand and timber supply, we have to reduce the volume.”
