Veteran B.C. Mediators Pull Out of Talks Between United Steel Workers Union and Western Forest Products. Strike Enters 31st Week With No End in Sight.

Veteran B.C. mediators Vince Ready and Amanda Rogers, who have been overseeing negotiations in the labor dispute and work stoppage between Western Forest Products (WFP) and the United Steel Workers Union Local 1-1937, which is currently in its 31st week, have sent a letter to both parties terminating their involvement in the process. The mediators re-started talks on Sunday 2-2. Meeting separately with each party and asking them to set out their current position. Following the meetings with both parties the mediators wrote saying ‘after reviewing each party’s current position, we are of the view that there is no basis for a negotiated settlement.’
