Resolute Forest Products is the recipient of a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) through the Arkansas Economic Development Commission (AEDC) for the purpose of purchasing equipment for a formerly owned by Conifex and Georgia Pacific sawmill in El Dorado Arkansas, that ceased operations in August 2019 and which Resolute purchased in February of 2020. The AEDC will commit up to $590,000 in CDBG grant funds to the county to be used by Resolute Forest Products at the facility, so long as the company creates at least 118 new full-time jobs with an average wage of $22.94 an hour within three years of the project’s completion. Resolute currently operates two sawmills in the South, one in Glenwood Arkansas and the other in Cross City Florida.
