Canfor has announced that their B.C. Christmas and New Year’s holiday scheduled has been altered this year. Growing demand for lumber products has reduced Christmas holiday downtime from the seven days down to just four days. Canfor facilities will be closed December 24th & 25th and December 31st and January 1st. Canfor is also reporting that their total Q3 lumber shipments reached 1.37 billion board feet, an increase of 19% over Q2. Canfor’s B.C. lumber production accounts for about 44% of its production withf4% coming from Alberta, 22% in Europe and 30% in the United States. Canfor is, however, continuing with a permanent closure of its Isle Pierre mill east of Vanderhoof, citing an uneconomic log supply brought on by the pine beetle infestation.
