Canadian Lumber Production Up 17.4% Month-Over-Month in January

Statistics Canada (StatCan) reported Tuesday (4-4-23) that lumber production in January increased 17.4% month-over-month to 3,811.5 thousand cubic meters. However, production was down 12.3% year-over-year.

Sawmills shipped 3,682.6 thousand cubic meters of lumber in January, up 9.0% from December 2022 but down 4.5% from January 2022.

StatCan notes that the “Sawmills” monthly survey measures the quantities of lumber produced and shipped by Canadian manufacturers.
