Canadian Lumber Production and Shipments Decline Month-Over-Month but Increase Year-Over-Year in December

On Monday, Statistics Canada (StatCan) reported that Canadian lumber production declined 22.6% month-over-month to 3,432.4 thousand cubic meters in December 2023. However, production was 5.8% higher year-over year.

Canadian sawmills shipped 3,502.3 thousand cubic meters of lumber in December, a 18.0% decrease from November. However, shipments were 3.6% higher when compared to December 2022.
