British Columbia Lumber Industry Woes Not an Indicator of N.W. Ontario’s Sawmills Health
25 sawmills in British Columbia have been shuttered in 2019. However, only 3 sawmills in northwestern Ontario have been temporarily closed, and one of the closures dates back to April of this year. This according to Ms. Jamie Lim, the President and CEO of Ontario Forest Industry Associates (OFIA). Tariffs and not lack of fiber are holding Ontario’s sawmills back.
