Thebault Group Launches France’s First LVL Manufacturing Plant
The Thebault Group, in partnership with the Cenzato Group, has inaugurated France’s first laminated veneer lumber (LVL) manufacturing unit, marking a major step in the domestic production of engineered wood products, LaCommère43 reported (12-13-25).
Thebault Group, a specialist in veneer production, said the new facility supports its industrial expansion into engineered wood products for construction while reinforcing its commitment to manufacturing in France. The project also creates synergies with the group’s core plywood business through silver fir peeling.
The 25,000 m2 plant is located on a 15-hectare site in Lempdes-sur-Allagnon. At full capacity, the facility is expected to produce 100,000 m3 of LVL annually, with an initial production phase of 70,000 m3.
The site became operational in just 18 months following a phased construction approach. To meet a target of starting production by the end of 2025, planning and construction progressed in parallel, allowing equipment installation to begin before the full handover of the buildings.
The project is a flagship initiative under France’s 2030 Plan focused on decarbonization and has received €25 million (US$29.4 million) in state funding. The Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region, the Haute-Loire Department, and the Allier Allagnon Intermunicipal Syndicate for Economic Development also contributed through subsidies of €3 million (US$3.5 million) from the region and €300,000 (US$353,000) from SYDEC.
