Southern Pine Lumber Exports Up Month-Over-Month & Year-Over-Year in April

According to April 2025 data from the USDA and SFPA, Southern Pine lumber exports rose 22.7% year-over-year and 34.8% month-over-month to 57.4 MMBF. Despite the strong April, year-to-date exports remain 4% below 2024 levels at 179.7 MMBF.

By value, exports hit a 12-month high of $22.6 million in April, up 27% year-over-year and 26% from March. Mexico, the Dominican Republic, and Canada are the top YTD markets.

Treated lumber exports were especially strong, up 47% year-over-year and 53% month-over-month to $15 million. Key markets include the Leeward-Windward Islands, Jamaica, and The Bahamas.

Softwood lumber imports declined 5% year-over-year and 13.7% from March to 1.2 MMBF.
