Fast + Epp Advances PNE Freedom Mobile Arch, One of World’s Largest Timber Roofs

Fast + Epp, a consulting engineering firm, has achieved a major milestone in the construction of the PNE Freedom Mobile Arch in Vancouver—set to be one of the world’s largest free-span timber roofs. In late May, three massive King Arches were installed atop newly formed concrete buttresses. These steel arches, composed of 27 pre-assembled segments, serve as the structural backbone for the glulam (glue-laminated timber) beams. Temporary supports are in place until the entire structure is fully secured and self-supporting. Installation of the glulam arches is now underway and will continue through fall. The completed amphitheater will seat up to 10,000 people and is slated to host events during the 2026 World Cup.
