EU Announces Antidumping Investigation Into Brazilian Softwood Plywood Imports

The EU Commission has launched an anti-dumping investigation into Brazilian softwood plywood imports following a complaint by the Softwood Plywood Consortium (SPC), the Timber Trades Journal reported (3-7-25).

The SPC filed a complaint on January 20 on behalf of the EU softwood plywood industry, alleging that Brazilian softwood plywood imports are being dumped in the EU, harming the EU plywood sector.

The investigation into dumping and injury will cover the period from January 1 to December 31, 2024. The product under investigation is plywood with lamellas no thicker than 6mm, with both outer plies of coniferous wood.

The SPC has presented evidence to the EU Commission showing that imports of the product have increased both in absolute terms and in market share. The evidence also indicates that the volume and pricing of these imports have negatively affected the quantities sold and prices charged by the EU industry, causing harm.
