BTG Pactual TIG Closes Latin American Reforestation Fund at $1.24 Billion
On Tuesday, BTG Pactual Timberland Investment Group (BTG Pactual TIG) announced the close of fundraising for its Latin American Reforestation Strategy, reaching $1.24 billion in commitments. The firm said the vehicle is the largest reforestation and restoration fund closed to date.
The strategy aims to conserve, restore, and reforest approximately 660,000 acres (267,000 hectares) of degraded land across Latin America, including about 330,000 acres (134,000 hectares) of native forests and habitats and another 330,000 acres designated for sustainably managed commercial tree farms.
Conservation International is serving as Impact Adviser, supporting environmental, climate, and social outcomes. The strategy incorporates International Finance Corporation (IFC) Performance Standards and is designed to combine commercial reforestation with science-based restoration practices.
To date, nearly 29 million trees have been planted across more than 64,000 acres (26,000 hectares) in Brazil. More than 53,000 acres (21,000 hectares) are under conservation, while restoration efforts have begun on over 50,000 acres (20,000 hectares), with the goal of connecting more than 100,000 acres (40,000 hectares) of natural habitat.
