Brazilian Exports of Wood-Based Products Decline in May

According to the International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO), the value of Brazilian exports of wood-based products (excluding pulp and paper) declined 12.0% year-over-year in May, falling from $334.6 million in May 2024 to $294.9 million.

Pine sawnwood exports decreased 13% in value, from $64.1 million in May 2024 to $55.7 million in May 2025. Volume declined by the same percentage, from 271,300 m3 to 236,100 m3.

Tropical sawnwood exports rose 41% in volume, from 23,900 m3 in May 2024 to 33,700 m3 in May 2025. In value, exports increased 44%, from $23.9 million to $33.7 million.

Pine plywood exports dropped 13% in value, from $76.4 million in May 2024 to $66.2 million in May 2025. Volume declined 3%, from 217,100 m3 to 209,800 m3.

Tropical plywood exports fell 20% in volume and 27% in value, decreasing from 3,500 m3 and $2.2 million in May 2024 to 2,800 m3 and $1.6 million in May 2025.

Wooden furniture exports saw a slight increase of 1%, rising from $54.6 million in May 2024 to $55.1 million in May 2025.
