Sweden’s Norra Timber Announces Investment in Its Hissmofors Sawmill
In June, the board of Norra Skog decided to invest SEK 100 million (US$10.49 million) in upgrading its Hissmofors sawmill in Krokom, Sweden. The investment is part of the forest owner cooperative’s broader strategy to build strong, modern, and efficient industrial operations.
Included in the investment is new equipment for the post-sawing line, which will allow for an annual production increase of 10,000 cubic meters of sawn timber. Construction begins this summer, with completion expected in fall 2026.
This investment marks the first of two planned steps to modernize the Hissmofors sawmill, which is operated by Norra Skog’s industrial branch, Norra Timber. The second phase is still in the planning stage and is scheduled for decision in fall 2026.
