After four years flanking Finlandia Hall in Helsinki, Finland, the 2,000-square-meter wooden pavilion known as Little Finlandia is being dismantled, trucked out, and reassembled at a new location, according to Jyrki Uimonen, Director of Kerto LVL Sales Development at Metsä Wood.

Little Finlandia was originally a joint project of the City of Helsinki, Finlandia Hall, Aalto University, and a building constructor and manufacturer. The structure was built using Metsä Wood Kerto LVL products, with load-bearing modules incorporating Kerto-S beams, Kerto-Q panels, and Kerto Kate thin panels. Floors and roof elements were based on Metsä Wood’s Kerto-Ripa technology, and the build was originally designed to be remountable.

Crews recently began unbolting the structure and preparing it for shipment to its next location.

Metsä Wood said the project demonstrates how Kerto LVL products and Ripa elements are well suited for multipurpose, reusable buildings in support of circular economy objectives.
