Freres Engineered Wood’s Warehouse Built Entirely From Wood Wins Design Award
This gorgeous warehouse for timber is built entire from wood
Freres Engineered Wood’s new 60,000-square-foot warehouse in Lyons, Oregon, has been recognized by Fast Company as a winner of the 2025 Innovation by Design Awards.
The facility, completed in October, uses engineered wood throughout and can store up to 6,000 plywood panels. It was designed to showcase the company’s products while reducing costs, emissions, and construction time.
By building with wood, the company cut greenhouse gas emissions by 429 metric tons—the equivalent of taking more than 300 cars off the road. Prefabricated wood walls reduced costs by as much as 20% and accelerated the project’s completion by three months.
Tyler Freres, Vice President of Sales at Freres Engineered Wood, said:
“Of course, I think wood is one of the most remarkable building materials that we have to build with. Engineered wood products like those used in the warehouse really expand the scope of sustainable construction.”
