Weekly Jobless Claims Modestly Decline in the Week Ending January 30th, 2021

The U.S. Department of Labor is reporting that an additional 779,000 Americans made their initial filing for unemployment benefits during the week ending on Saturday, January 30th. A decrease of 33,000 from the previous week’s revised level. The 4-week moving average was 848,250, a decrease of 1,2500 from the previous week’s revised average. The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment, known as continuing claims during the week ending  January 23rd, 2021 was 4,592,000 a decrease of 193,000 from the previous week’s revised level. The 4-week moving average was 4,881,750 a decrease of 120,000 from the previous week’s revised average. The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 3.2% for the week ending January 23rd, 2021, a decrease of 0.2 % from the previous week’s revised rate.
