US Weekly Jobless Claims Increase in the Week Ending November 5th

The US Department of Labor is reporting that the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial unemployment claims was 225,000 during the week ending on Saturday, November 5th. This is an increase of 7,000 from the previous week’s revised level of 218,000 (originally reported as 217,000). The 4-week moving average was 218,750—a decrease of 250 from the previously week’s revised level of 219,250 (originally reported as 219,000).

The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment, known as continuing claims, during the week ending October 29th was 1,493,000; this is an increase of 6,000 from the previous week’s revised level of 1,487,000 (originally reported as 1,485,000). The 4-week moving average was 1,450,250—an increase of 32,2500 from the previous week’s revised level of 1,418,000 (originally reported as 1,417,500).

The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 1.0% for the week ending October 29th, unchanged from the previous week’s unrevised rate.
