US Weekly Jobless Claims Decrease for the Week Ending November 26th

The US Department of Labor is reporting that the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial unemployment claims was 225,000 during the week ending on Saturday, November 26, 2022. This is a decrease of 16,000 from the previous week’s revised level of 241,000 (originally reported as 240,000). The 4-week moving average was 228,750—an increase of 1,750 from the previously week’s revised level of 227,000 (originally reported as 226,750).

The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment, known as continuing claims, during the week ending November 19, 2022, was 1,608,000. This is an increase of 57,000 from the previous week’s unrevised level of 1,551,000. The 4-week moving average was 1,538,750—an increase of 30,250 from the previous week’s revised level of 1,508,500 (originally reported as 1,509,750).

The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 1.1% for the week ending November 19, 2022, unchanged from the previous week’s unrevised rate.
