US State-Level Construction Employment Data for November

The US Bureau of Labor Statistics’ November nonfarm payroll report, with additional analysis provided by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), shows that construction sector employment (both residential and nonresidential) increased in 23 states and the District of Columbia compared to October. Conversely, 23 states reported job losses in the sector, while the remaining four states saw no change.

Overall, the construction industry gained a net 10,000 jobs in November. Florida led the growth, adding 7,600 jobs, while Indiana experienced the largest decline, losing 3,400. In percentage terms, Minnesota recorded the highest monthly increase at 2.1%, while Indiana saw the largest decrease at 2.0%.

Year-over-year, construction employment grew by 211,000 jobs, a 2.6% increase. Texas posted the largest annual gain, adding 32,200 jobs, while California experienced the biggest decline, losing 11,500. Alaska recorded the highest annual growth rate at 20.3%, while Maryland had the steepest drop at 2.3%.
