US Producer Price Index for Final Demand Increases in May

The Producer Price Index (PPI) for final demand, seasonally adjusted, increased 0.1% in May, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported on Thursday. Final demand prices declined 0.2% in April and 0.1% in March. On an unadjusted basis, the index for final demand rose 2.6% year-over-year.

The May increase in the index for final demand was led by prices for final demand services, which advanced 0.1%. The index for final demand goods rose 0.2%.

Prices for final demand less foods, energy, and trade services edged up 0.1% in May after declining 0.1% in April. Year-over-year, the index for final demand less foods, energy, and trade services increased 2.7%.
