Freddie Mac has released its Primary Mortgage Market Survey for the week ending Thursday, April 10.
The 30-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 6.62%, down from last week when it averaged 6.64%. A year ago at this time, the 30-year rate averaged 6.88%.
The 15-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 5.82%, unchanged from last week. A year ago at this time, the 15-year rate averaged 6.16%.
Commenting on the results of this week’s survey, Freddie Mac Chief Economist Sam Khater said:
“The average 30-year fixed-rate mortgage continues to trend down, remaining under 7% for the twelfth consecutive week. As purchase applications continue to climb, the spring homebuying season is shaping up to look more favorable than last year.”
