University of Michigan Reports Final Results of Its Consumer Sentiment Index for July

The Consumer Sentiment Index (CSI), released by the University of Michigan on Friday (7-28-23), rose to its highest mark since October 2021. All components of the index showed improvement. Declining inflation and stable labor markets were identified as the primary reasons for the strong increase in consumer sentiment.

The outlook for year-ahead inflation was little changed from previous surveys, rising 3.4% in July compared to 3.3% in June.
