U.S Mortgage Rates Rise as Optimism Drives Yields

Freddie Mac reported that the weekly average rate for new mortgages, as of 26th December 2019 were up. A 30-year fixed rates increased by 1 basis point to 3.74%. However, the rate was down when compared to a year ago when they were at 4.55%. The average fee remained unchanged at 0.7 points. The 15-year fixed rates remain unchanged at 3.19%.  Rates were down from 4.01% from a year ago.
