S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller Index Reports 3.6% Annual Gain in US Home Prices in October

On December 31, S&P Dow Jones Indices released its S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller US National Home Price NSA Index for October. The Index, covering all nine US census divisions, posted an annual gain of 3.6% in October, down from a 3.9% increase in September.

The 10-City Composite recorded an annual increase of 4.8% in October, down from 5.2% in September, while the 20-City Composite posted a year-over-year gain of 4.2%, down from 4.6% in the previous month.

Among the 20 cities, New York led with the highest annual gain at 7.3%, followed by Chicago and Las Vegas with increases of 6.2% and 5.9%, respectively. Tampa reported the smallest year-over-year growth, at just 0.4%.

In October, the pre-seasonally adjusted US National Index, along with the 20-City and 10-City Composites, reversed their upward trends. The National Index declined 0.2%, while the 20-City and 10-City Composites saw monthly decreases of 0.2% and 0.1%, respectively.

However, after seasonal adjustment, the US National Index posted a month-over-month increase of 0.3%, with both the 20-City and 10-City Composites also reporting gains of 0.3%.
