Producer Price Index for Final Demand Up 0.2% in October and 8.0% Year-Over-Year

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported today (11-15-22) that the Producer Price Index (PPI) for final demand, seasonally adjusted, increased 0.2% in October. The October increase follows a 0.2% increase in September, no change in August, and a 0.4% decline in July. On an unadjusted basis, the index for final demand advanced 8.0% for the 12 months ending in October.

In October, the increase in the index for final demand can be traced to 0.6% increase in prices for final demand goods, while the index for final demand services declined 0.1%.

Prices for final demand less foods, energy, and trade services rose 0.2% in October, following a 0.3% increase in September and a 0.2% increase in August. For the 12 months ending in October, the index for final demand less foods, energy, and trade services increased 5.4%, down 0.2% from October’s reading.
