Producer Price Index for Final Demand Decreases 0.1% in February; Up 4.6% Year-Over-Year

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported Wednesday (3-15-22) that the Producer Price Index (PPI) for final demand, seasonally adjusted, decreased 0.1% in February. This follows a 0.3% increase in January. On an unadjusted basis, the index for final demand advanced 4.6% for the twelve-month period ending in February.

The decline in the final demand index was led by prices for final demand goods, which fell 0.2%. The index for final demand services edged 0.1% lower.

The index for final demand less foods, energy, and trade services rose 0.2% in February after rising 0.5% in January. For the 12 months ending in February, prices for final demand less foods, energy, and trade services advanced 4.4%.
