Apple has pledged $2.5 billion dollars to fight the affordable housing crisis in California. Strong growth in the tech industry over the past decade and the tepid recovery in residential construction has caused median home prices to sky-rocket in Silicon Valley and Seattle. Apple’s announcement is in addition to another $2.5 billion of commitments made by other tech giants including Facebook, Google and Microsoft.
