National Association of Home Builders Survey Reveals COVID-19 Negatively Impacting Customer Traffic

In a survey conducted by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) between March 18th through the 23rd, builders were presented with 7 potential impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on their sales and they were asked to rank them accordingly. Of the 308 respondents, with a majority of them having the title of owner, president, or CEO of the company, 81% said the virus has had a negative impact on traffic of potential buyers. Also, high up on the list of things impacting sales and potential sales was a lag time in getting local building departments to review plans and to make onsite inspections. Surprisingly, the least common problem on the list, in locations where shelter in place is not in effect, was getting workers to report to the construction site.
