Arauco Announces Plans to Permanently Close Bennettsville S.C. MDF Mill on May 18th

Arauco, a leader in the composite panel and forest products industry, has announced it will be closing its medium density fiberboard (MDF) mill in Bennettsville, South Carolina on May 18th.  The facility has been offline due to market conditions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Arauco said the decision to close the facility permanently was based on a broader assessment that the older manufacturing platform is no longer competitive in the prevailing MDF market compared to the company’s other more advanced MDF platforms. In February Arauco announced that it was closing their MDF facility in Eugene Oregon effective May 1st.
