US Weekly Jobless Claims Unchanged in the Week Ending April 27th

On Thursday, the US Department of Labor reported that the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial unemployment claims was 208,000 during the week ending Saturday, April 27th. This is unchanged from the previous week’s revised level (originally 207,000). The 4-week moving average was 210,000—a decrease of 3,500 from the previous week’s revised average of 213,500 (originally 213,2500).

The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment, known as continuing claims, during the week ending April 20th was 1,774,000. This is unchanged from the previous week’s revised total of 1,774,000 (originally 1,781,000). The 4-week moving average was 1,788,7500—a decrease of 3,750 from the previous week’s revised average of 1,792,500 (originally 1,794,000).

The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 1.2% for the week ending April 20th, unchanged from the previous week’s revised rate.
