Two Unions Reject Proposed CPKC Contract Consolidation Agreements

Members of two labor unions working on Canadian Pacific Kansas City’s (CPKC) US network have rejected tentative collective bargaining agreements—announced in April—that would have consolidated 11 contracts into two hourly rate agreements spanning 2025–34, Progressive Railroading reported (5-26-26).

The Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) reported a 71% voter turnout, with more than 65% of participating members voting against the agreement. The SMART-TD union reported a 91.5% voter turnout, with 58% of members rejecting the proposal.

The proposed agreements would have covered about 1,700 employees across 11 states at locations now consolidated under CPKC.
