US National Interagency Fire Center Wildfire Update as of November 4th

The US National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC) reported that as of Monday, November 4th, wildland fire activity continues in 12 states where 17 large active wildfires have burned 492,102 acres.
The National Fire Preparedness Level has been reduced to a 2 out of 5. Approximately 2,500 wildland firefighters and support personnel are assigned to incidents, including 2 complex incident management teams, 28 crews, 222 engines, and 26 helicopters. In addition, wildland firefighters and support personnel continue to assist with hurricane relief efforts in North Carolina.

As of Monday, there was 11 large new fires being reported, and in total there are 17 large active wildfires that have burned 492,102 acres in 12 states. Oklahoma has 3 wildfires; Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Texas have 2 each; and California, Connecticut, Kentucky, Michigan, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Utah, and Wyoming have 1 each.
The updated year-to-date comparison is as follows:
- Year-to-date through November 4th, 47,451 wildfires were reported, and they have burned 6,465,349 acres.
- During the same period last year, 50,264 wildfires were reported, and they had burned 2,541,643 acres.
- The 10-year average (2014–23) for the same period is 50,948 wildfires and 6,404,088 acres burned.
