US Forest Service and Endowment for Forestry and Communities Launch Carbon Tracking Platform
On Monday, the US Forest Service (USFS) and US Endowment for Forestry and Communities announced the beta launch of the Forestry Analytics for Carbon Tracking (FACT) platform, a free, science-based platform designed to provide reliable forest sector carbon data.
The beta serves as a working release while functionality is improved and new information is incorporated. A full first-version release is planned for summer 2027.
FACT is being developed through a public-private effort led by the Endowment, USFS, and the forest sector, with input from scientists, engineers, and practitioners.
In a statement, USFS Chief Tom Schultz said:
“The Forest Service is committed to giving landowners access to information that supports active and effective forest management. FACT demonstrates what is possible when the public and private sectors work together around transparent, standardized data.”
