Multiple Wildfires Burning Throughout the Inland Northwest
Television station KREM-2, a CBS affiliate, is reporting that there are multiple wildfires burning throughout the Inland Northwest. The fires started on Labor Day and were the results of extremely windy conditions. Various evacuation orders have been issued with heavy smoke and blowing dust limiting visibility in many evacuation areas. Many of the areas impacted are now without power as the high winds and wildfires have knocked down power poles and lines. The town of Malden, in Whitman County was decimated by a wildfire, with most of the town’s structures destroyed or heavily damaged by fire.
