Enviva Pellet Dome in Pascagoula, MS, Damaged in Fire

On Monday, a fire broke out inside one of Enviva’s wood pellet storage domes at the Port of Pascagoula, Mississippi, prompting emergency efforts to contain the blaze and protect nearby facilities, WLOX reported (10-21-25).

The incident affected one of two domes used to store compressed wood pellets. Jackson County officials said there was no danger of explosion and that the fire appeared confined within the structure. Crews began offloading about 20,000 metric tons of pellets as part of the response.

Enviva released a statement Tuesday:

“Enviva is addressing a fire event in one of the wood pellet storage domes it operates at the Port of Pascagoula, Mississippi. Everyone on site has been reported safe.

We are coordinating closely with the Jackson County Fire Department and appreciate the efforts of emergency and onsite personnel who are actively responding. The safety of our employees, first responders, and the surrounding community is our top priority. The remaining pellets are being removed from the dome, and the event is under investigation.

Additional information will be relayed as appropriate.”
