BLM Timber Sales in Oregon Exceed Appraised Values in March

On Friday, the US Bureau of Land Management (BLM) reported timber sales totaling 56.8 million board feet across 1,943 public acres in Oregon, generating $14,866,455 and exceeding appraised values by more than $5.8 million.

By district, the Coos Bay District sold the Big Lookout CT tract (7.2 million board feet across 265 acres) to Swanson Group for $1,296,773. The Medford District sold the King Graves tract (8.4 million board feet, 422 acres) to Boise Cascade Wood Products for $1,086,259.

In the Northwest Oregon District, Sierra Pacific Industries purchased three tracts: Moke Road (5.8 million board feet, 272 acres) for $1,351,902; Log Rolling (14.7 million board feet, 409 acres) for $6,187,892; and Chill Factor (14.7 million board feet, 416 acres) for $3,920,782. The Roseburg District sold the Reston Pieces tract (6.1 million board feet, 159 acres) to Scott Timber Company for $1,022,847.

Including January and February, Q1 timber sales totaled 94.4 million board feet, generating $25,047,695 in revenue.

The BLM manages 58 million acres of forests, including 2.4 million acres in western Oregon of some of the most productive forests in the world.
